Cacao + Breathwork Journey

Summer Solstice
Saturday Jun 22, 2024

5-9pm

Hosted at The Peace Farm  (Central Salt Spring Island)

Cultivating connection with our ancestors & the ancestors of this land

Our ancestor’s prayers echo in our hearts inviting us to awaken to our interconnection with one another and Mother Earth.

We invite you to join us for an evening of intentional journeying to deepen our connection with our ancestors and their well wishes and the ancestors of the Land we occupy. Our intentions will be supported with the medicines of cacao (poured by Lena Laforet) and breathwork (facilitated by Ariana Fotinakis). This is a unique opportunity to utilize the bright light of the summer solstice as blessed illumination. You will depart feeling grounded, connected and resourced.

Cacao from Colombia, tea, and a variety of wholesome snacks will be provided.

Schedule:

  • Opening circle and honouring the ancestors of this Land

  • Cacao Blessing

  • Mindful Movement (gentle, all levels)

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATORS:

Ariana Fotinakis is a woman of mixed ancestry, with Anishinaabe and Greek roots. Like many Indigenous Peoples, she did not grow up connected to her roots due to the lasting impacts of colonization. Her journey of reconnection has been both powerful and humbling.

As the co-founder of Decolonize and Rize and a trauma-informed coach and breathwork facilitator, Ariana brings a grounded, gentle, and compassionate approach that supports her clients in their healing and decolonial journeys. Since 2013 she has supported 100s of clients across the globe with transformational change. Ariana understands the need to meet her clients where they’re at and believes everyone has the resources they need within to make positive changes in their lives and communities.

When Ariana is not facilitating breathwork journeys or supporting organizations and their reconciliation efforts, she can likely be found in the garden with her daughter and her chickens.

Lena Laforet del Mar is a homesteader and spends much of her time in the garden.  Her earthy voice and sincere presence create a warm safe place to enter stillness and go inward. Complimenting her peaceful, yet active lifestyle is her love for working with cacao, which she  imports directly from Colombia, where much of her familía reside. She offers cacao journeys (one to one, groups and events), pouring the divine essence of cacao as a medicine to support awakening.

As a yogi and long time student of Eihei Peter Levitt in the Soto Zen tradition Lena offers a vibrant tapestry of down to earth wisdom drawn from the deep wells of practice. Lena has well over 1000 hours of formal study in yoga and meditation disciplines and has hosted a multitude of international retreats, intensives and specialty workshops.

You can practice with Lena by joining her in person classes on Salt Spring Island at the Wellness Centre, Wednesdays 9:30-10:45am.
