Joel Laforet

“ I want to promote a culture of health. My expression of meaningful life is a homestead that reflects the understanding that the wellbeing of the land is reflected in the wellbeing of its inhabitants.”

Joel heads The Peace Farm, a 1.5 acre permaculture inspired homestead and orchard on Salt Spring Island.

Joel's passion and vigor is contagious, in a yoga class or training session you’ll end up trying something you never thought you could do while laughing at the same time. He's known to be always sipping on some strange but healthy drink and making functional beauty from scrap wood piles. Joel is certified in the instruction of Ashtanga (200 hours), Moksha/Modo Level 1 & 2 (700 hours) and Vinyasa (200 hours). He is a health nut proper and continues to expand his expression of yoga and fitness with innovative approaches to functional movement.

Joel has a diploma in Permaculture Design and has a conviction that permaculture is synonymous with common sense. Working with natural systems not only makes sense, but makes for less work. In the future Joel and Lena intend to offer in-person opportunities to learn more about homesteading and harmonizing with the land to create vibrant and self sustaining systems. Joel expresses his yoga and meditation through his lifestyle, he lights up in conversation about chickens, handstands and herbology.
