Lena and Joel are homesteading yogis living a wholesome life. 

Lena Laforet del Mar

Lena is a homesteader, yogi, Zen practitioner and cacao keeper.  Her earthy voice and presence skillfully hold the sacred space of entering the temple within. Lena’s teaching reflects her multicultural life with a vibrant tapestry of wisdom.

Gifted in the art of blessing, Lena has been described as, “Keeper of the sacred moment.” 

Lena hosts and guides a variety of blessing events as a way of re-awakening humanity to our innate power to bless. She also holds formal service and has supported members in her community through life’s major thresholds. 

Lena has taught mindfulness at international teacher trainings and has hosted a multitude of retreats and workshops. Lena received Boddhisattva Vows in the Soto Zen tradition in 2015 and is certified in Moksha/Modo Level 1 & 2 (700 hours),  Vinyasa (200 hours) and Yin (100 hours) with many more hours of formal study time. 

Practice with Lena in person:

Wednesdays 9:30-10:45am Mindful Flow yoga class at the Wellness Centre. (Salt Spring Island)

Thursdays 7-8pm Yin + Meditation at Ganges Yoga (Salt Spring Island)

Joel Laforet

Joel is a health and fitness coach who guides a vibrant community of Salt Springers through group, couples and one on one fitness programs. He has been a devoted yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher for almost 3 decades- these ancient teachings which he actively studies influence his approach to long-term wellness and strength. 

Joel's passion and vigor is contagious, in a yoga or fitness class you’ll end up trying something you never thought you could do while laughing at the same time. He's known to be always sipping on some strange but healthy drink and making functional beauty from scrap wood piles. Joel’s authentic and candid nature create an atmosphere where one feels comfortable to be open. 

Joel is a NASM Fitness Professional and is certified in the instruction of Ashtanga (200 hours), Moksha/Modo Level 1 & 2 (700 hours), Vinyasa (200 hours), Pranayama (200 hours)  and has many more hours of formal study time.

Joel is a bright hearted health nut with a deep rooted spiritual life, a light worker indeed.

Joel and lifteime love Lena are contemporary homesteaders of the Peace Farm. Joel has a diploma in Permaculture Design and has a conviction that permaculture is synonymous with common sense. Working with natural systems not only makes sense, but makes for less work. In the future Joel and Lena intend to offer in-person opportunities to learn more about homesteading and harmonizing with the land to create vibrant and self sustaining systems.
